A Fairy Tale....Sort of

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Finley. She looked really cute in this bunny dress, but that statement is not part of this tale. It's just a fact. By a biased mother. She's really cute.

In a land far far away, it was a special holiday known as Easter. All the people like to hunt eggs and celebrate Jesus. Jesus, eggs, bunnies-in that order, Jesus being the most important.

The little girl had a great-grandmother she liked to call, Nana. Nana you see, is a very special lady. She likes to send you chocolate for Valentine's Day, lottery tickets for Christmas, and lots of cards in between. Most feel very lucky when they open their cards and there is a special monetary surprise inside. It makes you all tingly inside when you open it. Some have even been known to buy groceries and diapers with their little surprises. Never mind, that's another fairy tale.

Anyways, the little girl got really excited when she opened her card. She normally likes to put her money in her piggy bank. But on this sunny day, the little girl felt overly generous. She decided to split her money with all her family. So the little girl went away and got very quiet and very busy over at her magical little art table in the corner. And when she returned....................

She had used her magical spell (aka zebra scissors) to divide up all her money for all her family-without even going to the bank. And her sweet little innocent face fell the minute we all burst out in sweet laughter. The little girl ran away and was not heard from again. Well, for at least 10 minutes until she got over her embarrassment after she realized that money must be divided at the bank. So we replaced the $5 with one in Daddy's wallet, and the little girl lived happily ever after. No charges were pressed at that time.
The End

Easter Sunday

My sweet kiddos-all dressed up!

Man, what a handsome/beautiful bunch! I'm so lucky.

Miss Finley & Miss Emma. They might be getting into some trouble in the future. Or maybe not. But probably.

I just love these two.

Made Ya Smile

While working for an organization that delivers lunches to elderlyshut-ins, I used to take my 4-year-old daughter on my afternoon rounds. She was unfailingly intrigued by the various appliances of old age, particularly the canes, walkers and wheelchairs. One day I found her staring at a pair of false teeth soaking in a glass. As I braced myself for the inevitable barrage of questions, she merely turned and whispered, 'The tooth fairy will never believe this!'

Cookies

We made Easter cookies on Good Friday.

Finley was very much into the decorating. She was very precise. Very careful. Detail oriented.

Slade was much more into the eating.

Finley really likes to do any type of painting, icing, drawing, etc.

And they turned out quite yummy! And if you payed close attention, you saw that Slade wore a Halloween shirt, we had a Christmas tablecloth, as we decorated our Easter cookies. We really love holidays at our house.

Brandi's best friend got married at Caprock Saturday night. And I love this photo. One of my bridal portraits was right in front of this door! Brings back memories, sniff sniff......

Conversation Part Tres

Slade - "Dad, is the Easter Bunny someone dressed up or is it a real rabbit?"

Kyle - "I think it might be a real rabbit."

Slade - "I've just never seen a six foot rabbit???"

Public Service Announcement

From the looks of the responses on my facebook wall and message center, I have decided to formally issue an apology to all my friends. I am so very sorry I put a link to the place where you could read the draft of Midnight Sun. I am equally sorry that your day was corrupted by a dreamy vampire and now you know his true feelings about Bella. I'm sorry you now long for Stephanie Meyer to write the book, that you are actually furious that she hasn't done this simple task. You probably wasted a whole few hours reliving your love for Twilight and New Moon and Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. I am truly sorry from the very bottom of my sparkly vampire Robward lovin' heart. I do apologize.................
NOT!!!!!!!! And you're welcome for the hot photo at the top. Toodles.

Did You Hear???

To all of my Twilight Lovers/Crazies/Slightly Psycho (that would be me), here is an extra treat for your reading enjoyment!!!

Stephenie Meyer is releasing this short story in June. No people, it's not as exciting as if she would have gotten on the ball and written Midnight Sun, but it's something.
Stephenie Meyer, why will you not write the fifth book? What are you waiting on? Just write it already. Ok, sorry, had to get that off my chest.
I'm not sure why, but she chose the newborn vampire, Bree, from the Eclipse novel to write about. She is also releasing the book for free to download from June 7th till July 5th, just as a treat for all her faithful fans. Kinda cool I thought. Very nice, since she doesn't really need much money seeing that she made the Forbes list. When you make that list, you can give people a free book I suppose. And if you do buy the book, $1 will go to the American Red Cross. So it's a win-win situation.
I'm not exceptionally jazzed about this character, but I will read it. And then dream about her writing Midnight Sun. Which is Edward's narrated version of Twilight. Please, Steph, please please write for Edward. My heart really needs this book.....Oh, and you can read some info about the new book here and here
P.S. For some of those that didn't know this, when you click on my second "here", you'll arrive at Stephenie Meyer's official website. Then click on Twilight Series at the top. Click on Midnight Sun and scroll to the bottom. You can click on Midnight Sun Draft and read the first 2oo and some odd pages of that book. You can't print it, you can just read it from that site (I think). It's just enough to get you excited and then it stops. But it's sooo good. I love it more that Twilight!!! Well, it's Edward's story, of course I would love it! Ha!!!

Conversation Part Deux

Is your Mamma a Llama???

I just had to say that. lol! I love that book. This was at the petting zoo at the rodeo. We were particularly fond of this white llama-like thing. It had what appeared to be mohair. Mohair-the hair of a goat, for those non-country peeps. It looked like a loat (llama/goat).

Slade - "Mom, why did you get new glasses?"

Me - "Because mine broke."

Slade - "What happened to them?"

Me - "The earpiece just fell off."

Slade - "Do you think I have really good vision because of all the carrots I eat?"

Me - "Yes, I think that is exactly why." :)

Conversation

Finley - "Mom, do you like Lady GaGa?"

Me - "How do you know who she is?"

Finley - "Jalen told me." (Jalen is a little boy in her preschool class.)

Me - "She's not my favorite. She is strange."

Final Conclusion: Finley has learned about the Resurrection and Lady Gaga at the Monterey Church of Christ Preschool this month. Interesting.

Hello Monday

If anyone still reads my ramblings, you've probably noticed I've been in a blogging funk. I never thought it would happen to me. To be wordless. But that's how I've felt lately. Sighhhhh. I have some semi-cute pics, but I haven't even had the urge to load them to my computer. That's on my list. Along with painting my other bathroom mirror, cleaning out my scrapbook closet, adding some items to ebay, and changing some light bulbs. But it probably ain't gonna happen today. I will eventually get back on track. I will find the will to load the photos, change light bulbs, etc. I have managed to finish the featured book at the top of this blog. It was really cute. Shauna gave me a set of four Emily Giffin books. Until this very moment, I've been thinking that her last name was "Griffin" but I see that I was wrong. Anywho, it was good book. Light, funny, delightful. I really liked it.
On another note, Easter was nice. We had fun, decorated eggs, made cookies, and discovered that hunting eggs is Finley's cup of tea. She really dug it. I will load those pics, too. I see some signs of spring. White blooms where falling from the ? trees on my street. I'm not really good with tree, plant, or vegetation names. I leave that to Kyle's department. They are the pink and white trees. They are very "Springy". The warm weather should bring people out of their funks-as so long as the wind isn't vicious. I'm about all worded out and really are boring people to tears, so I leave you these three earth spinning, time stopping thoughts.......
1. If you hang around long enough, life happens. It just does.
2. Diet Coke does not make you lose weight.
3. Peanut Butter is not considered a dessert in my book.
